Paris from the Sacré-Cœur.

I didn’t feel like interacting with any humans today but I pushed myself to go outside and explore for a bit.

My initial plan was to visit locations from the film Amélie, but after walking by the Café des Deux Moulins on Rue Lepic, I was sorely disappointed. I don’t know what I was expecting with the café…I knew the café in real life wouldn’t come close to my romanticised view of it based on how it was portrayed in the film, but the café was too busy and not charming in the least. I didn’t even step inside and I’m glad. I should have trusted the Yelp reviews but I wanted to see it for myself!

So I skipped over the rest of my Amélie itinerary and settled for my Plan B: catch some scenic views of Paris from the top of Montmartre, a large hill crowned by the Sacré-Cœur basilica.

I relaxed for a bit at the top of the hill but overall, I wasn’t feeling it today. I need some time to myself because I rarely had any down time when I was in Barcelona. I was out of the flat every day, walking around the city even though I was exhausted from not sleeping well. I was living with two other people and needed an escape from them and the boiling temperatures inside the flat. My host and flatmate were nice but I needed time alone. I can’t fully relax unless I can have silent time to myself: no small talk and no conversation with anyone.

Fortunately, I have plenty of time to rest now that I have this flat to myself! That’s my plan for this weekend. I have plenty of food and a piano to keep my company. I also need to finish my second book for Kindle–details forthcoming!

I hope you have a nice weekend! Remember to take some time to focus on yourself. We can all benefit from some time alone to rest and reflect.
